科研方向：   一直從事乳液聚合、懸浮聚合等多相體系的聚合研究。對于分散相聚合體系的聚合機理、聚合過程中粒增長機理、特殊結構(多孔、核殼、IPN、無機有機雜化乳膠粒、有機硅-聚丙烯酸酯復合粒子、高分子電解質的凝聚成粒等)、功能高分子微粒及其功能化都有過深度接觸。目前進行了沉淀聚合制備單分散聚脲微球、聚脲多孔材料的研究，并探討這些聚脲材料在酶固定、染料和重金屬離子吸附及降解等方面的應用。
科研成果及獎勵（包括項目、專利、鑒定等）（2005年以來）：   目前承擔一項國家自然科學基金面上項目(液滴模板輔助下聚合物初級微球一步法原位自組裝制備有序膠體組裝體)和泰山學者資助項目，已完成2項國家自然科學基金面上項目、2項山東省自然科學基金重點項目和1項省科技攻關計劃，也有與企業合作項目，科研經費近二百萬元。















作為項目負責人，1990年獲國家教委留學回國基金和山東大學優秀青年教師基金的資助。1991年承擔國家自然科學基金青年基金，1994和1998年分別承擔一項國家自然科學基金項目，1994年承擔國家教委優秀年輕教師基金，1997年承擔了山東大學跨世紀青年基金。作為主要參與者參加了一項山東省自然科學基金和一項國家教委基金。在國內外有關雜志已發表論文近百篇，兩次在ACS出版的專著中撰寫有關章節，兩次被Wiley & Sons 出版社聘為特邀主編，40余次在國內外學術會議作學術報告。1984年獲山東省科委科技成果進步二等獎；1992年獲山東省教委科技理論成果二等獎；1996年獲山東大學科技成果一等獎；1996年獲山東省教委科技進步三等獎;2006年獲中國石油和化學工業協會科技進步二等獎。1992年獲“山東大學優秀青年教師”;1992年獲“山東省高校優秀青年教師”；1996年獲“山東省優秀知識分子”。多次組織并主持召開國際學術會議（1994年第五屆功能高分子和精細化學國際研討會、1995年亞洲聚合反應和精細高分子研討會、1995年95全國高分子年會、1996年第六屆功能高分子和精細化學國際研討會和1997年第七屆功能高分子和精細化學國際研討會）。
